I started the idea of blogging about finance and investments quite a few months ago. I waited and waited so that I could write the perfect preface, and that just did not happen. Sounds silly, but it happens to me quite often.
I spent the past few years looking for my passion. About three years ago I had no idea what I wanted to do so I quit my engineering job and came to get my MBA. Anyway, whoelse had an idea about the future and still wanted the MBA... (sorry my MBA friends...) It turns out the MBA really opens the possibility to do all kinds of business. I am very much intruigued by the variety of job opportunities that came to the school. Though I knew I was extremely interested in finance, I ended up went to chase everything including IB, consulting, marketing, corporate finance and start-up as well coz finance jobs were very difficult to come by at that time with my lowsy networking skills. It left me 3 hours daily sleep at the 1st semester and of course the job hunting did not work well. I took AMD's job offer when I graduated though I passed CFA level 1 between the 1st year and the 2nd year because I was just not brave enough to risk losing a decent offer while not knowing who else is going to hire me in a prolonged financial crisis. However, I do know that I am still passionate about finance as I started trading stocks when I was 14 and I am still very actively working on that.
A lot of things happend in the past 2 years. I was lucky to meet my girlfriend Yilan who always encouraged me to pursue my passion, which was one of the best things happened in my life so far. Also I was encouraged by Travis Vedder, one of my best friend in the Bschool, who ended up managing a decent stock portfolio right now and looks quite enjoyed it.
I hope I could use a little of my insights in the tech world to do a little bit analysis about stocks in the blog though I don't want to limit myself just to the tech as I am a risk averse person always intrigued with flexibility. I hope this effort, as a relative safe attempt to purse my passion, will bring me joy and hopefully some useful information or insight to you who is reading. This is all I want and I hope it will come ture. Thank you!
